1 cup green peas
1/2 cup semolina (rava / sooji)
5 tbsp urad dal (split black lentil) flour
1 tbsp curds (dahi)
2 1/2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp crushed cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
1/2 tsp fruit salt
2 tsp oil
salt to taste

Method


For green peas waffle

  1. To make green peas waffle, grind the green peas in a blender to a coarse paste.
  2. Combine the green pea paste, semolina, urad dal flour, curds, green chillies, cumin seeds, coriander, asafoetida, salt, oil and 1 cup of water in a deep bowl and make a smooth batter.
  3. Just before making the waffles, add the fruit salt and mix gently.
  4. Pre-heat a waffle iron.
  5. Grease the waffle iron with little oil, use 1/3 of the green pea batter to spread it evenly into 2 waffle moulds. Put some oil over the batter and cook in a waffle maker for 10 minutes or till the waffles are crispy.
  6. Repeat with the remaining batter to make 4 more waffles.
  7. Serve the green peas waffle immediately with green chutney.
