This vegan barbecue sauce tastes way better than anyone you have tasted, I know there are regional favorites, like Kansas City Barbecue Sauce, North Carolina Style Barbecue Sauce, and Memphis Style Barbecue Sauce but this one is second to none.

I love to do homemade sauces, salad dressings without vinegar, sauce recipe uses pineapple juice instead which gives an amazing flavor to the barbecue sauce. Check out my other sauces, Jamaican Jerk Sauce, Vegan Cheese Sauce, Vegan Mayo.

The best part about homemade sauces is that you control the ingredients, they don’t have harmful additives, and the sauce’s taste can be adjusted, however, you please.

Some people like their sauces sweeter, some like them saltier, and some like them spicier, either way, you can adjust the taste of this sauce to suit your taste buds.

Here’s the fantastic 30-minute recipe for my homemade vegan BBQ sauce that will have you licking your fingers clean. The sauce can be used as a sideline with whatever dish you please but goes exceptionally well with Vegan Lentil Meatballs, Cauliflower Nuggets, Tofu Fries.

Vegan BBQ Sauce Ingredients

  • Oil – use olive oil or grapeseed oil. For the oil-free version, saute onion and garlic with about 1/4 cup of water or vegetable broth.
  • Onion – finely minced onion so that there won’t be large chunks in your sauce.
  • Garlic – adds flavor to the sauce.
  • Tomato Puree – most recipes use storebought ketchup but I prefer a more natural base so I use tomato puree at times I substitute with tomato sauce instead.
  • Pineapple Juice – this is my secret ingredient that gives your sauce a fruity flavor. you can substitute the pineapple juice for peach or apricot jam.
  • Maple Syrup, Coconut Sugar, Molasses – these natural sweeteners that have a great caramel flavor when combined. you can increase/decrease the amount of sweetener
  • Bragg’s Liquid Aminos – boosts the savory flavor of the sauce.
  • Herbs – dried parsley, oregano, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper for flavor.
  • Sesame Oil – another secret ingredient for homemade barbecue sauce that gives an amazing flavor to the sauce.
  • Salt – to round off the flavors.

The best part about this barbeque sauce is that it is entirely vegan so that you can enjoy it guilt-freely.

The natural and organic ingredients make it the healthier option than readymade sauces that have longer shelf lives, and thankfully the sauce does not compromise on taste either.

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of healthiness and deliciousness, you’ve come to the right spot.
