2 Super Cute DIY Projects for Valentine's Day under $10 (2024)

I love making DIY decorations for holidays. They add such a personal touch. These are 2 super cute DIY projects for Valentine’s Day that you can make super quick. I know it’s about 5 weeks before Valentine’s Day, so you have plenty of time to shop, plan and make them. They are perfect to add to a Valentine’s Day table.

We used to go out to celebrateValentine’s Day: make the reservations (first seating or second seating?), get all dressed up (O.K. that was fun ~ Sweet Shark even wore his tux a few times.), still fight crowds, eat way too much food and spend way too much money, get home late and ~ well, after a while, we just got tired of the hassle. Now we love being at home for this special occasion, enjoying a Valentine’s co*cktail (I’ll share some as we get closer to the big day.), prepare and enjoy a leisurely and delicious meal (We are both pretty darn good cooks.), not have to worry about driving (Of course, Uber has made driving on a weekend to dinner much safer and more enjoyable.), and getting to bed earlier.

this Idea.

When I sharedHow to Create aRomantic Valentine’s Table for 2, I showed you these 2 cute DIY items: glasses embellished with hearts and heart~shaped red glitter boxes. If you are planning a romantic dinner for 2 or a gal party for your best girlfriends, these easy super cute DIY projects for Valentine’s Day will give your party extra sparkle.

Both of these DIY projects require just a few supplies and they are both quick and easy. Your kids could help.

Heart Sticker Project

While out shopping for Valentine’s party ideas last week, everywhere I went I saw wine glasses decorated with gold dots or hearts or writing. So cute, but I really don’t need more glassware. I knew that I already had plenty of clear glasses at home. I also had a heart~shaped punch and a sheet of gold Cricut vinyl that I bought before Christmas. I thought I could make a decorative glass just as cute without spending a cent. Isn’t that what we DIYers love to do?

So I started punching.

When I had enough little gold hearts, I peeled off the backing and applied them to 2 Riedel stemless wine glasses. I thought they would work just fine as water glasses for my romantic tablescape.

They looked great on my table and didn’t cost me a dime. The heart~shaped punch was one of a set of 4 that I bought at 50% off before Christmas at Jo~ann’s. I already have in mind another project using the heart stickers for my Valentine brunch in a couple of weeks.

Red~Glitter~Heart~Shaped~Boxes

You may remember that I made glitter boxes for my Christmas tablescape and showed you how I did that here. I used the same process for these boxes.

You don’t need many supplies. The only thing I bought were the boxes at Jo~ann’s, which were $1.49 each and the red glitter.

First, I wrapped 3M Command Tape about 1/2 inch from the top of the box. I used the 3M Tape because it has a little “give” to it wraps easily on curves.

Next, I set the box on top of a piece of wax paper and sprayed with the spray adhesive. Then, sprinkle your glitter over the sprayed part, letting the excess fall on to the wax paper. Shake off the glitter from the box.

Remove the tape carefully from your boxes.

Spray the adhesive on the top of the heart boxes and sprinkle with glitter and shake off the excess. You’re done! I let the boxes set for about 15 minutes just to make sure the glitter is set and dry. Now you can take the top off of the glitter jar and use the wax paper to pour the excess glitter back into the jar. You don’t want to waste glitter!

You can use the boxes strictly as decoration or fill them with a Valentine’s treat: Hersey’s kisses, sweethearts, a cookie, such as a macaron or an iced sugar cookie (heart~shaped, of course), a chocolate heart or a sweet message to your special person. Let your imagination soar!
